A Pair of Chopsticks
This piece was inspired by a video from CCTV named "Do You Really Understand Chopsticks?". A pair of chopsticks goes way beyond just a useful utensil and the video explained exactly how it is more than utensils. The video highlighted numerous lessons and ways a pair of chopsticks can teach and bring people together. I love my Chinese culture and I continue to learn about it everyday. This piece created in Adobe Illustrator, included the colors red, yellow, and orange. In the Chinese Culture the color red, is often seen as good luck as well as a way to ward off evil spirits. I included Chinese characters in this piece as well as my name in Chinese characters on the chopsticks.

Placement in Student Showcase
The two design pieces were voted anonymously to be placed on the University of Houston's Digital Media website under the student work section. Each piece took time and dedication, this included finding the right shade of color, dealing with Adobe Illustrator quitting unexpectedly, and finding different ways to make every little detail come to life.

Marshmallow Mascot: I recreated a vector graphic of IU's Mascot in her song "Marshmallow". IU is a singer in South Korea. This piece was a perfect way for me to use the basic shapes in Adobe Illustrator. I used the rounded rectangles to give me a base shape. I then utilized the direct selection tool to move around certain points. In order to give the mascot a more 3D look, I used the pen tool to draw half oval shapes over the rectangles. I then used pathfinder to combine the shapes together.
